We are currently engaged in a process
of gradual transition from an industrial society to a new information
society. This new society involves a radical transformation,
with far-reaching technological, economic, social and political
changes which are altering the way we think, work, act and live.
It is time to plan out a new impetus, which will make a decisive
contribution to accelerating the way Basque society is adapting
to this new situation. The Basque Country must be ready to meet
the challenges of the Information Society.
This new impetus is set out in the "Basque Country in the
Information Society" plan. The plan, born out of a strategic
and political commitment for this government's term in office,
is an open and dynamic initiative, incorporating areas of participation
which will benefit all of society.
